Sixty-eighty days in the hospital is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, or even my ex-girlfriend.

Dear Pedro,

I am still in shock with the news! I really hope you get out of hospital ASAP! But I am also amazed at your strong will and positive attitude after being through all this. I hope Carolina isn’t missing her Daddy too much and that Gabriela is coping well with all this. As to little children not liking your new leg, just wait until you have a litte boy… You’ll be his hero !! (“My dad survived this HUGE motor bike accident and has this very COOL left leg!”)

PS-Maybe you don’t remember but June 20th is also my BDay. So next time you think about this date, think about as my BDay and not as that horrible accident, please!

Pedo, peco desde ja’ desculpa por estar a invadir o teu espaco, mas dei muito muito por um acaso com esta tua pagina pessoal e nao consegui ficar de maneira nenhuma indiferente a esta noticia. Conhecemo-nos ha’ muitos anos atras nas Berlegas, teria eu uns 16 anos e tu 18. Mantivemos contacto mas passado algum tempo deixamos de dar noticias. Ainda assim queria aqui deixar os meus mais sinceros desejos de melhoras. Que tudo corra bem, que te recuperes o mais depressa possivel e que tenhas toda a sorte do mundo.

The best tip on getting out of the hospital is your already great attitude! Be cheerful and upbeat, ask lots of questions, and be nice to the staff and they will treat you like family.

Estimado Pedro, espero que te recuperes pronto para poder volver a montar en moto, que es la mejor manera de superar un accidente asi. Aunque de momento vendas la tuya para comprarte una Canon.
Conozco a quien le pasó por encima del pié un autobus y se recuperó completamente.
Animos desde España y suerte con la recuperación.

Dear Pedro,

I hope you’re recovering well. And I fully respect your reasons for not riding anymore.

When I heard the news of your accident, I said to myself, “My, gosh! You and I had the lucks–same type of accident on the exact same day!” Except you’ve got it on your leg and I might have a ruptured disc on my spine (pending results from CT scans). I was very fortunate to get back on my messed up Aprilia SR50 the next day!

What can I say…got to ride on, man. I made a promise to the spirit of my uncle who was killed in a motorcycle accident years ago that I would ride on for him, so I will. Good luck in your future endeavors.

No tips either.
Get well – most important, completely well. Take the chance to do things that normally you don’t have time to do, like reading and writing. I can imagine it’s boring to be closed in a hospital bed room but, well… life surprises us when we don’t expect it.
