6 random things
My friend Spiff has challenged me and other friends to write six random things about ourselves. Here is the translation of what I wrote as a comment on his blog:
1. I like asparagus. Especially the green ones. Steam cooked.
2. I also like to take things apart. I consider my entrance into adulthood the moment I started managing to put them back together. Without any parts remaining. And working. Most times….
3. I love my daughter and my wife, especially their smiles and laughs, and the twinkle in their eyes.
4. I like science fiction – the written kind – but nowadays I read almost exclusively ebooks… if you stop to think about it, a few years ago the concept of an electronic “book” would be science fiction!
5. I got tired of computers. That’s why I have a Mac.
6. I’ve arrived to that period in life when I realized that the lenses are more important than the cameras. And that prime lenses are better than zoom lenses. You do run back and forth quite a bit more, and you have to swap lenses, but the quality is worth it.
Computers already rule the world
Computers are making us in their image. With the new Mac OS X iSync update the system adds voice synthesized tags for all my address book entries on my phone My new Nokia N70 adds voice synthesized tags for all my address book entries (the voice tags are added by the phone itself). Now I can voice dial from my bluetooth car kit (or from my bluetooth helmet adaptor) without the trouble of recording the voice tags individually – as long as I sound like an american robot tourist trying to pronounce portuguese names. As it’s said, hilarity ensued!
Other drivers now have the pleasure of, besides seeing me speaking to myself alone in the car, see me speaking to myself alone in the car, making faces, and giggling!
Neat, neat idea.
Paul “Moose” Curtis as created a new concept that has the Leeds City Council in England confused: he creates “graffiti” messages by cleaning accumulated grime. What are they going to accuse him of? Failure to clean the whole wall? He’s part of a company that does this kind of work for publicity also. Via BoingBoing.net
In Real Life
Today I managed to squeeze 2h36m57s out of my MacBook Pro connected to the internet via bluetooth, by way of my Nokia 6630. This is the last screenshot I managed to grab, just before it went into standby by itself:

Not bad, not bad at all! I used the computer normally, reading and replying to e-mail, IM’ing, and browsing the web.
I want one of these
A want need one of these! The interface seems fantastic!
